Most people do not meet a lawyer on a good day. You are separating, buying a first home, applying to bring family to Canada, or working out what happens after someone dies.
Lexwood Law exists for those moments. Nine practice areas sit under one roof in Mississauga, so when a matter touches two of them at once — and it often does — you are not starting again with a new firm and telling the story twice.

Why we built Lexwood Law
The firm came out of a simple observation. People rarely complain that their lawyer lost. They complain that nobody called them back, that the bill arrived without warning, and that they never really understood what was happening to them.
Mohammad Shoaib was called to the Bar of Ontario in 2024 and built Lexwood Law around fixing exactly that. Answer the phone. Put the fee in writing first. Say the difficult part out loud, early, while it can still be dealt with.
A firm built that way from the first day has nothing to unlearn. There is no inherited process to defend and no volume target quietly deciding how long you are allowed to talk.
Saturday hours came from the same thinking. Very few people can take a Tuesday morning off work to talk about a will, and that should never be the reason a family goes without one.
What we are here to do
Our job is to take something confusing and frightening and turn it into something you can act on.
In practice that means setting out your realistic options in ordinary words, telling you what each one is likely to cost, and being honest when the answer is that you do not need a lawyer at all.
We would rather you understood the advice and paid what we said you would pay than be impressed by us. Both of those are things you can actually check.
What we stand for
Plain language
Law has its own vocabulary and you should not have to learn it to get help. We explain what is happening, what it means for you, and what we need you to decide — in ordinary words. If a legal term is unavoidable, we tell you what it means the first time we use it.
Transparency
You get the fee structure in writing before you decide anything. Disbursements, third-party costs and the things that could move the number are set out alongside it. An invoice from us should never be a surprise.
Preparation
Most matters are decided in the paperwork long before anyone stands up to speak. We do the unglamorous part properly: documents in order, deadlines tracked, evidence gathered while it still exists rather than after it is gone.
Respect
Your time, your budget and your judgment belong to you. We give you the information and our recommendation, then we do what you decide — not what happens to be easiest to bill.
Community
We are part of Mississauga rather than visiting it. We serve clients in English, Urdu, Hindi and Punjabi, and we take the time newcomers often need to have a system explained from the beginning.

You tell us what happened
Book a free 30-minute consultation, in person or by phone. Bring whatever paperwork you have, even if it is incomplete. We listen first and ask questions second.
We tell you where you stand
You leave that first meeting knowing your realistic options, what each one involves, and roughly how long it takes. If your position is weak, you hear that too — on day one, not on day ninety.
We agree the fee before we start
You get the fee structure in writing, with what is included and what would change it. Nothing begins until you have seen that and said yes to it.
We do the work and keep you posted
You get updates at the points that matter, rather than silence punctuated by invoices. Calls are returned. The same lawyer stays on your file from the first meeting to the last.
Rooted in Mississauga
A great many of our neighbours were born somewhere else, and the legal system was not designed with that in mind. Forms assume you already know how the process works, and nobody tells you what missing a deadline actually costs.
We take that gap seriously. A newcomer gets the same explanation anyone else would get, only starting further back, and in a language they are comfortable in.
Islamic estate planning is a real part of our practice rather than an afterthought. A will can respect Faraid shares and still meet the requirements of Ontario law, and we prepare wills that do both.
